How can i get rid of dark ugly scars on my skin,any tips?

I have an ugly dark scar near my bikini line that is VERY unflattering and i was wondering if there was any home remedies or inexpensive names of drug store ointments i could use te get rid of it..., PLEASE HELP. Thanks.
