Mariana question about feeling the strings..?

I've had the Mariana put in for about 2 weeks now.. I know your suppose to feel the strings to make sure.. But, are they suppose to be rite in the opening? Because, I just barley put my finger tip in the opening and, I can feel them without having to put my whole finger in..
